Farmer tests VR goggles on cows

Farmer Izzet Kocak from Turkey has found a way to increase his milk yield using virtual reality glasses. The cattle breeder was inspired by an experiment in the Moscow region, which showed that animals grazing in virtual reality feel happier and give more milk.

Two cows from the herd began to "graze" daily in virtual green meadows on the screen of the VR headset, and because of that they began to give five liters of milk more. Kojak compared the amount of milk per day: since the beginning of the use of virtual reality helmets, the milk volue have increased from 22 to 27 liters per day. VR glasses are adapted both to the shape of the animal's head and to the peculiarities of their vision. The farmer plans to purchase more devices so that the whole herd starts producing more milk.

For the first time, virtual reality headsets for livestock were tested at the Moscow Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Scientists from Russia have found that for cows, it is necessary to launch special recordings with a large bias towards the red spectrum — the animals' vision distinguishes it better. The use of a VR headset reduces the stress level of animals: instead of a barn, they see meadows, and it is the reduction in anxiety that contributes to an increase in milk yield.
